The 5th Annual General meeting of the Colombo Medical School Alumni Association was held on the 23rd of October 2015 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.

The annual report was presented by Dr. SameeraGunawardane highlighting the achievements of COMSAA during the past year. The treasurer’s report was presented by Prof. Varuni de Silva. Dr. B.J.C Perera, the outgoingpresident addressing the gathering stated that thepresidency of COMSAA waswhat he cherished the mostout of the many offices hehad held.He thanked the committeefor their untiring effortsduring the past year andhighlighted the canteenrenovation project whichwas spearheaded by Prof.AthulaKaluarachchi, Dr.JayanthaDayasena, ProfVarunide Silva and Dr.SameeraGunawardane. He also emphasized the benefits of the financial assistance scheme and thanked everyone who came forward to help the students who were affected by the Blomfontein hostel fire.

Dr B.J.C Perera introduced the incoming president and presented the president’s medal to Prof.Kaluarachchi.Prof. AthulaKaluarachchi, delivering the presidential address expressed his gratitude to the membership for electing him as the president of the COMSAA. He outlined the areas that need improvement which included enhancing student participation in extracurricular activities and making more space available for student study areas within the faculty.

Prof Kaluarachchi concluded by presenting the past presidents medal to the outgoing president. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr AruniWariyapola. The meeting was followed by a reception at the senior common room.
