AGM - 2021/2022
The 11th Annual General Meeting of CoMSAA began with the National Anthem, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Prasad Katulanda. A minute of silence was observed for victims of COVID-19.
Prof. Katulanda reflected on the year’s challenges and achievements, including continuation of student scholarships, the successful Colombo Medical Congress with new features like an oration and banquet, and progress in forming overseas chapters. A formal donation was pledged towards the Learning Commons project.
The minutes of the 10th AGM were confirmed with no matters arising. Dr. Isurujith Liyanage presented the annual report for 2020/2021, while Dr. Asanka Ratnayake presented the unaudited financial report, noting pending transactions from the Medical Congress. A suggestion was made to maintain a separate account for the event. A ceremonial pledge was handed over to the Dean and Librarian for the Learning Commons. Prof. Katulanda then inducted Dr. Anula Wijesundere as President for 2021/2022.
The new Executive Committee was elected uncontested, with co-opted members named. In her address, Dr. Wijesundere outlined her plans to expand membership, continue key events, and introduce a quiz competition for students. A resolution was proposed to co-opt past presidents and overseas chapter leaders to the committee. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Dilushi Wijayaratne.
