AGM - 2020/2021
The 10th Annual General Meeting of the Colombo Medical School Alumni Association (CoMSAA) was chaired by Dr. Ruvaiz Haniffa in the absence of Prof. Rezvi Sheriff. Following the National Anthem and welcome, the minutes of the 9th AGM were confirmed with an amendment, and no matters arose.
Prof. Hemali Goonesekera presented the Annual Report for 2019/2020, while Treasurer Dr. Rezni Cassim presented the unaudited financial report, citing COVID-19-related delays and responding to queries regarding miscellaneous expenses. Outgoing President Prof. Rezvi Sheriff addressed the gathering via Zoom, highlighting CoMSAA’s contributions to the Faculty’s 150th Anniversary, COVID-
related donations, and future projects such as the Women’s Hostel.
Dr. Haniffa inducted Vidya Jyothi Dr. Prasad Katulanda as President for 2020/2021, and the new Executive Committee was elected uncontested. In his address, Dr. Katulanda pledged to support students, revive key projects including a Research Fund and Virtual Museum, and strengthen member engagement.
Two outgoing secretaries were retained as Ex-officio members via a resolution, and the new constitution was formally adopted. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Co-Secretary Dr. Dinesha Jayasinghe.
