The 8th Annual General Meeting of CoMSAA began with the National Anthem and a welcome by Prof. Jennifer Perera. The minutes of the 7th AGM were confirmed by Dr. Sumithra Tissera and Dr.Pramilla Senanayake. 

Dr. Tissera presented the annual report for 2017/2018, followed by the audited financial report by Dr. Sahan Guruge, showing a healthy financial status and profits from the Annual Session. Outgoing President Prof. Perera highlighted the year’s achievements and called on alumni to support the Faculty’s upcoming 150th anniversary celebrations.
Dr. Iyanthi Abeyewickreme was inducted as the new President for 2018/2019. She thanked her predecessor and emphasized increasing CoMSAA membership to 1,000. Matters arising included suggestions by Prof. Athula Kaluarachchi and Prof. Sheriffdeen to increase student financial aid in line with the cost of living.

A constitutional amendment to reduce the qualifying period for academic staff membership from five to three years was approved. Dr. Gayani Ranaweera delivered the vote of thanks, and the meeting concluded with the singing of the faculty song.
