First and foremost, I sincerely thank the council and members of the Colombo medical school alumni association for electing me as the 7th President of the CoMSAA. I accept this post with courage and humility. I will serve the association to the best of my ability to fulfill the aspirations and objectives of the association. With the support of the newly elected council and the ever expanding membership I am certain that I could take the CoMSAA to greater heights. I thank Dr Sarath Gamini de Silva for making 2017 a memorable year for all its members with many activities towards uplifting the Faculty infrastructure, student support and inaugurating the ComSAA lecture.

The CoMSAA membership has contributed to many student development projects. I am very thankful to all those who contributed to these activities. There are many activities planned for 2018 with a view to fulfilling the objectives of CoMSAA. The much looked forward to annual get together and academic programme will be held on 8th and 9th September. Please reserve the dates as we would like to see all members at this event. The CoMSAA lecture will be held in March at the Faculty premises. We will keep you informed through emails. A “paduru party” will be organized by the young council members around June and we do look forward to an enjoyable evening of song and fellowship with family members. The Faculty need your contribution to renovate and refurbish the premises in view of the upcoming 150th birthday of the faculty in June 2020. The activities will commence in June 2019 and I look forward to your support very much.

The Landscape project has already commenced and we are looking for qard to donations from all members towards this endeavor. You will receive details on how you could contribute to this project so the faculty would be a much pleasanter place to visit, study and work for visitors, students and staff. It is my fervent hope that all CoMSAA members here and overseas will contribute towards achieving the objectives of the association as the strength of the association lies with the membership. I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2018
